Wild silk, also known as peace silk or Ahimsa silk, is something completely different from ordinary silk fabric. It does not have a glassy shine or a smooth finish; instead, it features a lively and rustic texture. The fabric carries a deep respect for nature and is perfectly suited for those who value artisan uniqueness and ethical production.
Unlike ordinary silk, wild silk is harvested only after the silk moth has emerged from the cocoon on its own and completed its life cycle. No caterpillars are boiled to produce this fabric. Because the moth chews a hole in the cocoon, it is impossible to spin a long, perfectly smooth thread – resulting in a yarn with a much more fascinating, slightly textured feel.
Why choose this specific fabric for your creations?
- Ideal for eco-printing: The fabric accepts botanical and natural dyes excellently, bringing out the fine details of the plants.
- Strong and breathable: Thanks to its textured surface structure, it is stronger and has better breathability than regular Mulberry silk.
- Skin-friendly: Soft, hypoallergenic, and thermo-regulating – it cools you on a hot summer day and keeps you warm when it is cooler.
- Versatile: Perfect for making luxurious scarves, clothing (blouses, dresses), or exclusive interior textiles.
